The Story of Cherry Monkeys

Angela Whitfield, hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, has always been deeply passionate about music and travel. Her journey began at a young age, and before long, she found herself producing shows across Europe, working alongside renowned artists such as CeeLo Green, Slum Village, Dwele, and more. Upon returning to the United States, Angela continued to make her mark in the music industry, booking venues nationwide and collaborating with top artists like Lil Wayne, TI, Mase, and LL Cool J.

However, Angela's story extends far beyond her success in music. Her entrepreneurial journey took a pivotal turn during her travels to Burkina Faso, where she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of the water crisis. This experience ignited a new sense of purpose within her, leading to the transformation of her brand, Cherry Monkeys.

Originally known for its trendy, blinged-out phone cases, Cherry Monkeys evolved in 2018 into a brand with a mission: to educate children about different cultures while addressing essential needs. The rebranded Cherry Monkeys introduced an innovative concept—bamboo toilet paper accompanied by storybooks designed to teach children about various cultures, life experiences, and essential hygiene practices. The brand features five playful monkey characters, each representing a unique personality and life lesson, all aimed at supporting children's character development and skill-building. Available on Walmart.com and cherrymonkeys.com.

This eco-friendly product has become a valuable tool for parents teaching potty training and hygiene.

Angela’s commitment to empowering children goes beyond her product offerings. She is driven by a mission to eliminate classism and provide children with the tools and inspiration to pursue their dreams. In line with this vision, Cherry Monkeys is set to launch a groundbreaking tissue dispenser in spring 2025. This innovative product will teach children proper tissue usage and hygiene practices, further supporting their development and well-being.

With offices in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Atlanta, Cherry Monkeys is poised for continued growth. This year, the company plans to relocate its headquarters to Detroit, solidifying its commitment to the community. Angela is also dedicated to giving back through community events, partnerships with organizations like the Detroit Fire Department, and initiatives to combat bullying. Her ultimate goal is to create a platform where dreamers can thrive and inspire others to chase their aspirations.

Through her work with Cherry Monkeys, Angela Whitfield is not only building a successful brand but also making a meaningful impact on communities and the next generation of leaders. Her journey serves as an inspiring reminder that with passion, purpose, and perseverance, one can create positive change in world.
