Beautiful Machine Magazine is beautiful people doing beautiful things, so of course we would be at “Fashion Show and a Movie.” May 1st hosted by Michigan Fashion Week. No spoiler alerts for those who did not make it to the premiere but you won’t be disappointed, we loved the sequel as much as the original.

Loren Hicks, clothing designer and founder of Michigan Fashion Week collaborated with Emagine Theatre in Novi for the Premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” What could be better than dressing up for the “Red Carpet” (with a photo op for all the Detroit/Michigan fashionistas), an incredible fashion show, cocktails & popcorn and the biggest fashion movie of the year!

The Edge Boutique in Troy, Posh Consignment Boutique, Northville and Mature Lifestyle Clothier, Detroit provided the stunning fashions for the sold-out event and Casamigos Tequila and Ketel One Vodka provided the Cocktails.

We caught up with Loren Hicks on the “Red Carpet” and she let us know what inspired her to offer this glamourous event.

“The Devil Wears Prada is a worldwide sensation that we all remember from over 20 years ago and a great opportunity to bring the fashion community together to watch the sequel and to have a good time with friends at a great event” Loren added “Seeing everyone dress up for the event (some even wearing gowns) remind us just how fashionable and how stylish the people of Detroit are.”

Loren was wearing a brocade cape sleeve blazer dress “Imani” by one of her favorite retail stores and heels by Steve Madden. Many of the participants “dressed to the nines” and red was the most popular “pop of color” with designs by Chanel and of course, Prada taking center-stage.

Michigan Fashion Week was started in 2012 with the intentions to highlight the local fashion industry, the designers, artists and models of Michigan and the Midwest. Recently they hosted Canvas & Cloth – A live Detroit Fashion & Art Experience as well as Detroit’s Sustainable Fashion Week.

Upcoming events for Michigan Fashion Week include heading to the New York Fashion Week with a Michigan Designer showcase. They will be taking applications for designers to “Step into a larger stage, get in front of new audiences and position their brand where it belongs.” Michigan Designers can apply at https://www.michigangashionweek.com/designers-1

They are also looking for interns see the application on Michigan Fashion Week’s Facebook page or at www.michiganfashionweek.com
