Successful celebration of Detroit artists sets the stage for two nights of Return of the Legends over Labor Day weekend
Following the sold-out success of Detroit All City Fest, The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre will continue celebrating hip hop with two star-studded nights of Return of the Legends, brought to you by McDonald’s, over Labor Day weekend.
Held August 21, Detroit All City Fest brought together some of the city’s biggest names, including Babyface Ray, 42 Dugg, Sada Baby, Peezy, Icewear Vezzo, and Big Meech. Thousands of fans gathered along Detroit’s riverfront for an exciting celebration of the artists, music, and culture shaping the city’s hip hop scene.
The sold-out event concluded without fights, violence, or significant incidents, demonstrating what is possible when Detroit artists, fans, venue staff, and the community come together through music.
“Detroit All City Fest was a powerful testament to our city, our music scene, and our community,” said Shahida Mausi, president and CEO of The Right Productions, which operates The Aretha. “A sold-out audience came together to celebrate Detroit artists in a positive and welcoming environment. We are proud of everyone who helped make the evening such an incredible success.”
The celebration continues Saturday, September 5, when Return of the Legends features Scarface, DJ Quik, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Devin The Dude, and Lil’ Flip.
On Sunday, September 6, the second night brings another powerhouse lineup featuring Too Short, E40, 8Ball & MJG, Lady of Rage, and MC Eiht.
Together, the three concerts highlight the power, influence, and lasting legacy of hip hop—from the artists putting Detroit at the center of today’s music scene to the legendary performers whose hits helped shape the culture.
Tickets for Saturday’s Return of the Legends concert are available through Ticketmaster and The Aretha box office.
