Detroit’s music scene has always been fertile ground for raw, authentic talent—and now there’s a new name echoing through the underground and quickly climbing to the top: Tayy Dior.

With confidence, charisma, and bars to match, Tayy Dior is proving she’s not just another rapper from the city—she’s the one to watch.

I caught up with her recently to learn more about her journey, inspirations, and what’s next for one of Detroit’s fastest-rising stars.

What Up Doe Tayy?

When asked about the moment she realized music was her true calling, Tayy didn’t hesitate:

“Heyyy! My very first song was Run It Up and it went up almost immediately. I knew rapping was for me after that.”
That kind of early feedback would give anyone a boost, but for Tayy, it was confirmation that she belonged in this game—and since then, she’s been running it up nonstop.

Detroit Roots, Detroit Love

While she’s steadily building her own wave, Tayy pays homage to the artists who paved the way. When I asked her to name her favorite Detroit artists, she listed a solid mix of icons and rising stars:

“Tayy Dior, Tee Grizzley, Babyface Ray, Kash Doll, and Skilla Baby.”

(Yes, she name-checked herself—and rightfully so. Confidence like that is earned.)

And if you’re wondering where to find her when she’s not in the studio, she’s probably catching a vibe at one of her favorite food spots.

“I love just trying new places,” she said. “But two of my favs are Brooklyn Street Local and Caribbean Citchen.”

Recording vs. Performing?

As much as fans love to see Tayy Dior perform live, she’s a studio rat at heart.

“Omg that’s a tough one,” she admitted. “I would prefer recording though.”

But don’t get it twisted—her live performances go crazy.

“All of them this year, honestly, have been memorable,” she told me. Her stage presence is only growing, and her next big opportunity to showcase it is August 15th at The Crofoot, where she’ll be rocking the stage alongside Sada Baby, Ashwin Gane, Courtney Bell, DSAV, Coco, and Clare. Hosted by Polo Frost and Nat XoXo, this night is guaranteed to be electric.

“A great time. It’s gonna be turnt. It’s a dope lineup. I know it’s gonna be a full house.”

The New Project: Hot Girl

Tayy’s latest drop, Hot Girl, is already heating up the streets.

“It’s a unique track mixed with a southern sound sampling Hot Boyz,” she said. It’s Tayy Dior in her bag—raw, confident, and unapologetically bold.

Dreams, Collabs & Creative Vision

Every artist has dream collabs, and Tayy’s are fire.

“Dream collab for me would be Tay Keith and Baby ChiefDoIt,” she said—an explosive combo that would absolutely shake the scene.

As for her ideal stage setup? Let’s just say it’s everything you’d expect from someone with her energy:

“Epic, over-the-top, bright fiery flames. I would be extra.”

And when it’s time to unwind? Tayy is all in on the 50 Cent cinematic universe.

“Honestly, anything 50 Cent puts out,” she laughed.

Blazing Forward

Tayy Dior is part of the next wave of Detroit hip-hop, and she’s moving with purpose, passion, and power. Whether she’s dropping a new track, lighting up a stage, or just putting on for her city, one thing is clear:

She’s not just rising—she’s blazing.

Keep your eyes on Tayy Dior. Detroit already knows. The rest of the world is next.
