In a city as competitive and fast-paced as New York, standing out in real estate requires more than market knowledge — it demands vision. Charlie Lewis, Jr., award-winning Associate Broker at Compass, has built a career on exactly that. With more than $600 million in New York City residential sales since launching his career in 2005, and ranking in the top 4% of agents, Charlie has established himself as a distinguished lifestyle real estate authority.

But for Charlie, success has never been just about closing deals. It’s about helping people live intentionally.

His expertise and charismatic presence have been showcased on HGTV’s Selling New York, WABC, and WNBC, with features in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, and Essence Magazine. Yet beyond media recognition, Charlie’s influence extends deeply into culture and community. In the Netflix series Forever, the character “Uncle Charlie” is based on him — a testament to the real-life friendship he shares with creator Mara Brock Akil and to his enduring love for his alma mater, Howard University.

A proud Howard graduate, Charlie’s commitment to the university is both personal and impactful. He serves on the Trustee Candidate Identification Advisory Council (TCIAC), helping nominate future trustees, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA). As Past President of HUAA, he led a network of 86,000 alumni, demonstrating leadership that extends far beyond real estate. His previous roles as Northeast Region Chair and President of the Howard University Alumni Club of Greater New York further highlight his dedication to cultivating legacy and connection.

In 2016, Charlie expanded his influence with the launch of the “Love the Way You Live” brand — a lifestyle philosophy encouraging authenticity, joy, and intentional design at every age. His debut book, No Apologies: Love the Way You Live, at Any Age, reinforces that message, inspiring readers to embrace their lives fully and unapologetically.

Before real estate, Charlie sharpened his strategic lens in branding and marketing, serving as an executive at Digitas, a global digital agency, and later founding Mindshock, a strategy and branding consultancy. That background gives him a unique edge — blending financial acumen, market strategy, and lifestyle branding into every client relationship.

His civic leadership also spans the arts and mental health advocacy, with board roles including Mental Health First Connects and the Harlem Fine Arts Show, along with past service for Ronald K. Brown/Evidence Dance Company and Brooklyn Community Services.

Armed with a BBA in Finance from Howard University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, Charlie Lewis, Jr. represents more than elite real estate performance. He embodies lifestyle transformation — proving that home is not just where you live, but how you live.
