Some decisions are difficult. Others are obvious.

Selecting Sam Klemet as Beautiful Machine Magazine’s Man of the Year was one of the easiest decisions we have ever made.

Throughout his tenure with the Detroit Auto Show, Sam demonstrated the kind of leadership that organizations dream of and communities desperately need. At a time when many legacy institutions across America are searching for ways to remain relevant, Sam helped usher in a renewed excitement and enthusiasm surrounding one of Detroit’s most iconic events. Under his leadership, there was a renewed energy, a fresh vision, and a clear sense of purpose. It is no exaggeration to say that the Detroit Auto Show found new life during his time at the helm, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt. While the show will continue, it is difficult to imagine it carrying quite the same spirit without the steady guidance and passion he brought to it.

Sam is a visionary in every sense of the word.

Great leaders do more than manage people. They inspire them. Sam possesses the rare ability to bring people together from all walks of life and unite them around a common mission. He leads with fairness, kindness, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Although Sam decided to move on from the Detroit Auto Show, we have no doubt that his next chapter will be every bit as impactful as the last.
