Some decisions are difficult. Others are obvious.
Selecting Sam Klemet as Beautiful Machine Magazine’s Man of the Year was one of the easiest decisions we have ever made.
Throughout his tenure with the Detroit Auto Show, Sam demonstrated the kind of leadership that organizations dream of and communities desperately need. At a time when many legacy institutions across America are searching for ways to remain relevant, Sam helped usher in a renewed excitement and enthusiasm surrounding one of Detroit’s most iconic events. Under his leadership, there was a renewed energy, a fresh vision, and a clear sense of purpose. It is no exaggeration to say that the Detroit Auto Show found new life during his time at the helm, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt. While the show will continue, it is difficult to imagine it carrying quite the same spirit without the steady guidance and passion he brought to it.
Sam is a visionary in every sense of the word.

Great leaders do more than manage people. They inspire them. Sam possesses the rare ability to bring people together from all walks of life and unite them around a common mission. He leads with fairness, kindness, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Whether interacting with corporate executives, community leaders, volunteers, media partners, or first time attendees, Sam consistently treats everyone with dignity and respect.
In an era when leadership is often measured by titles and accolades, Sam reminds us that true leadership is measured by character.
Those who have had the privilege of working alongside him know that Sam is intensely focused on the mission at hand. He is strategic, thoughtful, and always prepared. He understands that meaningful success is never accidental. It is the product of hard work, careful planning, and an unshakable belief in the people around you. His steady hand and calm demeanor have earned him the admiration of colleagues throughout Detroit and beyond.
Yet, as impressive as his professional accomplishments are, what may be most admirable about Sam is the man he is away from the boardroom.
Sam is a devoted family man who clearly understands that success means very little if it is not shared with those you love. He is a dedicated husband, father, and provider who places tremendous value on family. In many ways, his commitment to those closest to him mirrors the way he approaches leadership. He leads with love, responsibility, and integrity.
Detroit has always thrived because of individuals willing to serve as stewards of the city and its future. Sam Klemet is unquestionably one of those people. He represents the very best of Detroit. He is principled, compassionate, forward thinking, and deeply committed to making a difference.
Although Sam decided to move on from the Detroit Auto Show, we have no doubt that his next chapter will be every bit as impactful as the last. We look forward to working with him on many future projects and witnessing the continued positive influence he will undoubtedly have on our region. The Auto Show will move forward, as it always does, but those who experienced it under Sam’s leadership know that he set a standard that will be difficult to replicate.
Congratulations, Sam Klemet, our Man of the Year. Your leadership, vision, and humanity have left an indelible mark on Detroit, and Beautiful Machine Magazine is proud to celebrate you.
