Sound Mind Sound Body and the Professional Football Players Mothers Association, Inc. are joining forces for a community Beautification Day on Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sound Mind Sound Body headquarters, 11440 Morang Drive in Detroit.

Volunteers, community members and supporters will work together to clean, enhance and improve the organization’s campus and surrounding neighborhood. The morning of service will focus on creating a cleaner, more welcoming environment for the young people and families served by Sound Mind Sound Body while demonstrating the power of teamwork beyond the football field.

Sound Mind Sound Body uses athletics as a pathway to education, leadership development and long-term success. Through its “books before ball” philosophy, the organization has supported thousands of student-athletes with academic resources, mentorship, athletic training and access to college opportunities.

The event will offer strong visuals of volunteers completing outdoor cleanup and beautification projects, along with opportunities to interview Sound Mind Sound Body leadership, representatives from the Professional Football Players Mothers Association and participating volunteers about investing in Detroit youth and neighborhoods.
