

Kamilia Landrum is a top millennial leader in Detroit's non-profit industry. She is the youngest Executive Director in the history of the NAACP Detroit Branch; a Branch known for its extraordinary leadership and membership base, robust community engagement, and iconic Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner. In her 20-year commitment to the Association, Kamilia has been at the forefront of social justice advocacy issues from the fight to uphold Affirmative Action in Michigan to historical legislation such as Promote the Vote, which expanded voting access for millions of Michiganders. She has traveled across the country for Civil Rights demonstrations such as Jena 6 in Louisiana and the 50th Anniversary of the Edmund Pettus Bridge Crossing in Selma, AL. Most recently she traveled from Jamestown, Virginia to Jamestown, Ghana with a delegation of NAACP leaders to recognize the 400-year mark of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
At the Detroit Branch NAACP, Kamilia oversees the implementation of strategic partnerships and programming the Association's five game changers: education, economic sustainability, criminal justice, civic engagement and health and heath care access. She has served in numerous leadership capacities of the local, state, and national level of the organization. Kamilia has engaged hundreds of youth leaders across the country by reactivating NAACP college chapters, training students on advocacy and civil rights issues, and mentoring students as they developed as leaders.
In her first year as Executive Director, Kamilia hosted the 110th NAACP National Convention in Detroit, MI. The convention brought 10,000 people to the city and over $11.5 million in economic impact to the region. Most recently, she led the coordination of the June Jubilee celebration in Detroit, MI. This historic weekend marked the 60th Anniversary of the March Down Woodward where Dr. King first delivered the "I Have A Dream" speech and for the first time ever, included a combined celebration with the Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner.
Kamilia is a graduate of Cass Technical High School and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a Master of Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Policy and Management from Wayne State University.
Kamilia is also a small business owner in the city of Detroit. In 2014 she launched her consulting firm, The GlassDrum and in 2017, she started Staged Spaces, an event planning and luxury party rentals company. Since its inception, the company has focused on supporting events for non-profit organizations, small businesses, and other celebrations that bring family and friends together. In 2025 she began her newest venture, Gift Box Detroit, and online gift and flower shop.
In her community, Kamilia serves as the Secretary and Nominating Committee Chair for Detroit Future City, Commissioner for the Michigan Education Commission of the States, and member of the Metropolitan Affairs Council, Black Leaders Detroit Funding Board, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and the Michigan Supreme Court Attorney Discipline Board.
Kamilia is also a current member of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Alumni of New Leaders Council Detroit, member of the Renaissance (MI) Chapter of the Links, Inc. and Financial Secretary for Word of Truth Temple of Jesus Christ. Her leadership skills and dedication have earned recognition as a Crain's 40 Under 40 Awardee, James H. Cole Legacy Foundation Heroes and Hope Awardee, Career Mastered: Diversity Impact 50 Awardee, Detroit Young Professionals Vanguard Awardee, Leadership Detroit Class XLI (41) Fellow, Michigan Chronicle's 40 under 40 Trailblazer Awardee, Walker's Legacy Power25 Awardee for women in business, Corp Magazine Diversity Awardee, Detroit Redwings Game Changer Awardee, and most recently, a Michigan Chronicle Woman of Excellence Awardee.
