There’s a new voice emerging from Detroit — bold, confident, and undeniably magnetic. Lyrikk Dion, known as “Little Miss Detroit,” is more than a young artist stepping into the spotlight — she’s building a movement rooted in authenticity, ambition, and purpose. In this exclusive Beautiful Machine feature, Lyrikk opens up about her journey, her mindset, and what’s next.
Beautiful Machine: You’ve embraced the title “Little Miss Detroit” — how does your city shape your identity as both an artist and a young creative voice?
Lyrikk Dion: I’ve always had a bold, confident, undeniable star presence — even before I became Little Miss Detroit. The city just helped shape that and made me stronger.
Beautiful Machine: At such a young age, you’ve already stepped into the spotlight. What first sparked your passion for music and performing?
Lyrikk Dion: I really love music. Watching artists perform and go on tour inspired me. I was already modeling on stages, so I thought, why not see what it’s like to perform on big stages too?
Beautiful Machine: Your presence feels both confident and playful. How would you describe your artistic persona?
Lyrikk Dion: I’m kind of nonchalant, but I’m big on connection. Once I build rapport with people, I become very fun and open.
Beautiful Machine: Growing up in the public eye can be unique — how do you stay grounded while building your brand and career?
Lyrikk Dion: I stay focused on my brand, but I also stay humble. Before I was Lyrikk Dion, I was Lyrikk Perkins — and I never forget that.
Beautiful Machine: Your work blends music, personality, and visual storytelling. How intentional are you with your image and creative direction?
Lyrikk Dion: I’m very intentional. I know who I am, and I know what I want to be. I move with confidence in everything I do.
Beautiful Machine: Who are some of your biggest influences — and how do they inspire your sound?
Lyrikk Dion: My mom is my biggest influence. She works hard in every aspect of life, and she reminds me I can do anything. I also look up to Mary Sheffield — she’s accomplished so much and carries herself with a high level of excellence.
Beautiful Machine: Can you walk us through your creative process?
Lyrikk Dion: It starts with the beat. Then I think about what’s going on around me. My song “Tripping” came from a dance that was trending at the time — I just turned that moment into music.
Beautiful Machine: Detroit has such a rich musical legacy. How do you see yourself contributing to the next generation?
Lyrikk Dion: I see myself as the future of hip-hop. I’m not just an artist — I’m a movement.
Beautiful Machine: What message do you want listeners to take away from your music?
Lyrikk Dion: Stay strong, follow your dreams, and always have confidence. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?
Beautiful Machine: Looking ahead, what are your biggest dreams — not just as an artist, but as a young woman growing into her purpose?
Lyrikk Dion: I want to finish school and graduate, no matter what path I take. I want to become a huge artist like Cardi B, Kash Doll, or Latto. And most importantly, I want to take care of my mom and my brothers and give back to my community.
From confidence to clarity, Lyrikk Dion represents a new generation of Detroit artists who understand that success is more than fame — it’s impact. And if her trajectory is any indication, “Little Miss Detroit” is already well on her way.
