Dear Dr. Sabrina:

I am a 64 year old black woman with 3 adult children. I have retired from the educational field. I have had one friend who is more like a sister. She too worked in the educational field and we have just been very close. We helped raise each other’s children, traveled the world together, dealt with loses of family members, and more.

So, We have had a major falling out and I must be honest it is my fault. We have over the years helped each other out financially. I have loaned her money and never asked her to return it. However, I borrowed a significant amount and ran into a major loss. I was not able to repay at the time I had promised. This caused her to stop speaking to me. It has simply devastated me and I really want to get our friendship back.

I must say it took me years however I have repaid the loan. I have had several family milestones and she has came to all related to my children….None specifically for me. I feel very strongly that we have far more good memories/experiences than bad. My question should I try one last time to reconcile?

Sincerely,
Sad Friend
