“The name had to feel like me,” she explains. “‘Gigi’ is feminine and light, and ‘Diorr’ adds that elevated feel. Pretty, but not to be played with.” That duality, grace paired with strength, is not just branding. It is the foundation of her artistry.
Her latest project, Slow Burn, is more than an EP. It is a reflection of evolution. Rather than rushing to capitalize on early momentum, Gigi chose patience. Time became her collaborator. Over the past few years, she traveled, experienced life, and most importantly, discovered herself.
“I needed to be in the right mental space,” she says. “Nothing was rushed. Everything evolved.”
That philosophy is woven into every note of Slow Burn. The project feels intentional, intimate, and deeply personal, echoing the emotional honesty of artists she admires such as Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jhené Aiko, Ed Sheeran, and Amy Winehouse. “You can edit your voice, but you can’t fake emotion,” she says. “You have to really feel what you’re saying.”

“I love projects that push boundaries,” she says. “Things that actually say something.”
Offstage, Gigi Diorr is just as grounded. A self-proclaimed foodie, she enjoys some of Detroit’s finest culinary destinations, including London Chop House, Beverly Hills Grill, and Detroit Eatery, especially when the night stretches late and the city begins to hum a little differently.
As Slow Burn makes its way across streaming platforms, one thing is clear: Gigi Diorr is not chasing moments. She is building a legacy, one that unfolds in its own time, on its own terms.
