Ferndale Underground Holiday Market Brings a Funky Twist to the Season
If you tossed the Rust Belt Market, Funky Ferndale, and the DIY spirit into a blender, you’d get exactly what a Ferndalian Holiday Market should be. Think European Christmas Market vibes—with a local twist.

Tucked cozily into the bottom level of the 221 West Troy parking structure (yes, that one at Allen), this market will make you rethink your feelings about parking garages. Stay warm, shop small, and discover Detroit-area makers, bakers, and shakers—all while supporting Ferndale’s incredible local businesses.

Mark Loeb is inviting Metro Detroiters to head down to Funkytown—literally. This holiday season, that means the lower level of Ferndale’s public parking structure at Allen and Troy Streets, where the Ferndale Underground Holiday Market returns November 15-16 for a weekend of music, creativity, and one-of-a-kind shopping.
A creative spin on Ferndale’s beloved Funky Ferndale Art Fair, the Underground Market transforms the garage basement into a festive wonderland of more than 80 artists and makers. Visitors can expect an eclectic mix of handcrafted goods, upcycled art, and unique gifts perfect for anyone on their list. “We look for things that are a bit more edgy,” says Loeb, the market’s producer. “It’s all about finding those one-of-a-kind treasures that make gift-giving special.”

"The market has similarities with other holiday markets in that we include art, makers, bakers and more. The difference is that we look for things that are a bit unusual, which includes the venue", according to market producer Mark Loeb. "Our goal is to encourage people to choose one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved one".

The market is part of downtown Ferndale's annual Jingle and Mingle, including music, art making and surprises. Kids and adults will enjoy free make-and-take activities, including ornaments and gift items.

In addition to our beautiful artists, the market includes more crafty items like handmade jams and soaps, things that are popular for gift-giving and entertaining. Tasty treats include pies and other baked goods, candies and more.
The event also features younger sellers- Mint Artists Guild offers art gifts by Detroit teens.
