Beautiful Machine Magazine had a chance to interviewed Djhonia, and here is a piece of that conversation:
BMM: DJ, as a Detroit native, how has growing up here shaped your passion for helping others succeed in the tax industry?
DS: Growing up in Detroit taught me grit, survival, and the power of transformation. I saw firsthand how many brilliant people were stuck in cycles of lack — not because of laziness, but because of limited access. That shaped my mission to create real opportunities through financial literacy, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. Detroit raised me, and now I use what I’ve built to reach back and pull others forward.
BMM: You’ve helped create multiple six- and even seven-figure earners in the tax industry — what’s the biggest mindset shift you see in those who break through to these levels of success?
DS: The shift is from hustle to structure. Everyone can hustle, but real money requires systems, consistency, and a CEO mindset. Those who scale understand that delegation, data, and discipline separate the six-figure earners from the millionaires.
BMM: You brought in over $20 million in sales this past season alone. That’s an incredible impact! How does it feel to know you’re directly contributing to the financial well-being of so many people?
DS: It’s humbling and powerful. Every dollar represents a breakthrough — someone who believed in themselves again, a family that’s better off, or a business that finally made it. I don’t just count money. I count impact.
BMM: What inspired you to focus specifically on the tax industry as a vehicle for building generational wealth?
DS: The tax industry is a billion-dollar game hiding in plain sight. People line up every year to file taxes, but most don’t realize they could be earning six or seven figures by learning how the industry works. I saw it as a low-overhead, high-reward path to wealth that almost anyone could enter — especially those who’ve been overlooked.
BMM: For someone who’s just starting out in the tax industry, what’s one piece of advice you’d give them to accelerate their growth?
DS: Get a mentor and follow a proven blueprint. Don’t try to wing it. Learn the business, master client experience, and most importantly — show up consistently. This is an industry where you can go from broke to boss in one season if you’re locked in.
BMM: How do you see the tax industry evolving over the next 5–10 years, and what role do you plan to play in that transformation?
DS: Automation, AI, and year-round monetization are changing the game. It’s no longer just about tax season — it’s about offering full-service solutions and leveraging technology. I’m leading that shift by teaching others how to turn seasonal income into full-time legacy through digital products, compliance, partnerships, and education.
BMM: Beyond numbers and taxes, what core values drive your mission to empower others financially?
DS: Faith, integrity, legacy, and community. I don’t just want people to make money — I want them to heal their family’s financial story, pass down real knowledge, and build something that outlives them. Wealth is about freedom, and freedom is my mission.
BMM: Detroit is known for its resilience and innovation. How do you feel your work reflects the spirit of this city?
DS: Everything about me is Detroit. I took what I had, built something out of nothing, and then turned around to teach others how to do the same. Detroit doesn’t wait for permission. Neither do I. We make a way — and we bring the whole block with us.
BMM: What has been the most rewarding part of your journey as a wealth coach so far?
DS: Watching people go from doubt to dominance. Seeing a single mom go from making $12/hour to owning her own tax office and earning six figures — that’s the reward. I live for those transformations.
BMM: What’s next for DJ? Any upcoming projects or new goals you’re excited to share with us and the community?
DS: I’m scaling my mission. We just launched a $50 million campaign to help our entire network reach new income heights. I’ve got a reality show, more digital education tools, retreats, and a whole new generation of millionaires in the making. And I’m not slowing down until we shift the culture.
