A Holistic Summer Experience
Participants will explore a wide spectrum of creative disciplines—from beat-making and songwriting to dance, theater and instrumentation—guided by Detroit’s most accomplished musicians, educators and industry leaders. At the heart of the program is its director, Darell “Red” Campbell Jr., an award-winning producer, musician and educator known for nurturing young talent.

“The Keys 2 Life Performing Arts Summer Camp is more than a creative outlet—it’s a life-changing experience,” said Campbell Jr. “We’ve built an environment where young people can safely explore their identities, discover hidden talents and gain the tools they need to thrive both on stage and in life. Whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or taking their skills to the next level, every camper leaves more confident, inspired and prepared for what’s next.”

In addition to hands-on performing arts instruction, students participate in daily Academic Enrichment sessions led by certified teachers, focusing on Math and English Language Arts (ELA) for 2.5 hours, four days a week. These sessions are designed to reinforce core academic competencies and prevent summer learning loss.

Why It Matters
Through intentional programming, the Keys 2 Life Performing Arts Summer Camp helps students build emotional intelligence, develop critical life skills and gain exposure to careers in the arts and entertainment industries. The camp's impact extends far beyond the stage, empowering youth to make positive decisions, express themselves authentically and see their futures in new and exciting ways.

Key benefits include:
