Some events entertain. Others inspire. A select few manage to transform tragedy into purpose while creating opportunities that extend far beyond a single evening. Daziah Day 2026 is one of those rare events.
On Saturday, August 8, Detroit's historic Harmonie Club will once again become a gathering place where music, community, education, and hope intersect. Hosted by The Daziah T. Crawford Foundation, the annual charity arts showcase celebrates the incredible talent emerging from Metro Detroit while raising scholarship funds for students pursuing higher education.
At its heart, Daziah Day is much more than a concert. It is a living legacy.
A Legacy Built on Love
The foundation was created in memory of Daziah Crawford, whose life was tragically cut short in 2018 following a high-speed police pursuit that ended in a fatal crash through a Detroit neighborhood. Rather than allowing unimaginable grief to define their future, Daziah's family made the courageous decision to channel that loss into something meaningful.
Inspired by Daziah's passion for journalism and the performing arts, the Foundation has since awarded 17 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college freshmen across the United States. Its long-term vision is even more ambitious—to eliminate financial barriers by providing full scholarships to deserving students.
That mission comes to life every year through Daziah Day.
Detroit Talent Takes Center Stage
This year's lineup reflects the diversity and depth of Detroit's thriving creative community.
Headlining the evening is Asaka the Renegade, whose career has continued its upward trajectory following his victory in T-Pain's March Music Madness competition. Since then, Asaka has toured nationally, earned appearances on Sway in the Morning, received editorial recognition from Voyage ATL, and partnered with major brands while remaining deeply connected to his Detroit roots.
Joining him is multi-instrumentalist and producer Sam Watson, whose soulful blend of R&B, hip-hop, and pop continues to establish him as one of Detroit's most versatile independent artists. Known for playing more than ten instruments, Watson brings both technical musicianship and emotional storytelling to every performance.
Singer-songwriter Keely Ferguson also joins the showcase, bringing empowering music centered on confidence, healing, and self-discovery. With more than one million collaborative streams, her artistry continues to resonate with audiences seeking authentic storytelling.
Rounding out the lineup are Detroit artists J3 and Ari B, both representing the city's next generation of musical voices. J3's honest lyricism explores perseverance and personal growth, while Ari B continues to gain momentum with standout performances alongside artists including Eric Roberson, K. Michelle, Kash Doll, Glenn Jones, and her recent appearance on The Voice.
Together, these artists represent more than entertainment—they represent Detroit's creative future.
Giving Young Voices a Platform
One of the evening's most unique features extends beyond the performances themselves.
Throughout the event, aspiring youth journalists will have the opportunity to interview artists, sponsors, community leaders, and attendees, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in media and storytelling.
It's another example of how Daziah Day intentionally creates opportunities for young people to discover careers in both the arts and communications—two fields Daziah herself loved.
Investing in Dreams
Scholarships have long been one of the most powerful tools for changing lives. For many students, financial obstacles can determine whether educational dreams become reality.
Every ticket purchased and every donation made during Daziah Day directly supports the Foundation's scholarship program, allowing more students to pursue college without carrying the full weight of financial hardship.
