From Safety Boy to City Leader
Chief Harris’s journey to leadership began long before he wore the badge of the Detroit Fire Department. As a young boy, he took on the humble yet impactful role of a safety boy at his school—a formative experience that planted the seeds of public service deep within him.

“That’s where it all started,” he shared during his campaign launch. “Helping my classmates cross the street safely gave me purpose. It made me realize how powerful service can be. I’ve been chasing that same feeling ever since.”
