Detroit, MI – Opportunity Resource Fund (OppFund), a nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI) dedicated to advancing equitable economic prosperity in Michigan, will host its 40th Anniversary Gala on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Michigan Central Station.

The evening will feature Angela Yee, award-winning media personality and co-host of nationally syndicated Way Up With Angela Yee, delivering the keynote address, and a live performance by Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse Syleena Johnson. Rhonda Walker, Emmy-winning anchor and community leader, will also take the stage as a featured speaker.

“I’m honored to be part of this milestone celebration,” said Angela Yee. “For four decades, OppFund has been creating pathways to stability and opportunity for families across Michigan. Housing security is a foundation for everything else in life, and I’m proud to lend my voice to a cause that helps families hold on to that foundation.”

In addition to world-class entertainment, the gala will highlight OppFund’s impact and honor leaders whose work reflects its mission to build wealth and stability in Michigan communities, including U.S. Senators Gary Peters and State Senator Mary Cavanagh.

Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, four-course gourmet dinner, awards program, and live entertainment, all inside Detroit’s iconic Michigan Central Station. Proceeds raised during the event will directly support OppFund’s Homeowner Relief Fund, which provides critical financial support to help Michigan families avoid foreclosure and remain in their homes.

“This celebration is about honoring our past and securing the future for Michigan homeowners who are facing unprecedented challenges,” said Byna Elliott, OppFund’s new CEO. “Every ticket purchased directly supports families who might otherwise lose the stability and dignity of homeownership.”

The evening will also recognize institutions whose work reflects OppFund’s mission to build wealth and stability in Michigan communities, including the Kresge Foundation, Huntington Bank and Henry Ford Health.

OppFund acknowledges the generous support of its key sponsors, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and Fifth Third Bank, whose investments make this work possible.

To mark this milestone, CEO Byna Elliott is available for interviews, podcast appearances, and feature stories to discuss the impact of OppFund’s Homeowner Relief Fund and her vision for expanding opportunity across Michigan.
