Fundraising event supports education, connection, and advocacy
The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan – a nonprofit that supports those with epilepsy and their families through education, advocacy, training, and community programming – will host its 33rd annual Stroll for Epilepsy™ on Saturday, June 14, from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. The stroll will wind through the wonderful wilds of the walking paths at the Detroit Zoo, located at 8450 W. 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Mich. 48067. Free Zoo admission is included in event registration.
The Stroll for Epilepsy™ is a unifying movement that brings the epilepsy community from all corners of the state together. Attendees will experience live music, inspiring testimonials, opportunities to win prizes and raffle items, and more—all while enjoying a morning filled with the beautiful Detroit Zoo scenery and the fulfillment of supporting a vital cause.

"The Stroll for Epilepsy brings together all who work toward the heart and soul of our mission," said Andrea E. Schotthoefer, president of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. "The money raised helps fund education and advocacy programs, allowing us to provide vital epilepsy and seizure support services all across the state."
One in 26 people in the U.S. is expected to develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. For nearly eight decades, the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan has been a beacon of support for people all across the state who are affected by epilepsy, and the mission is now more crucial than ever.
Awareness and advocacy resources are tools in the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy. Those in the fight are also working to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. The Foundation also addresses critical issues such as stigma, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), misdiagnosis, treatment gaps, employment loss, discrimination, and isolation.
Funds from the Stroll for Epilepsy™ will directly support the Foundation's comprehensive statewide initiatives. These include training school personnel on seizure recognition and first aid, hosting educational conferences, and offering the invaluable Here for You Helpline, which provides guidance and understanding to those navigating the complexities of epilepsy.
