On a small block nicely tucked away in Downtown Detroit you’ll find Savannahblue an elegantly situated restaurant located at 1431 Times Square on the second floor.

Their website describes their food as, “Contemporary Northern Soul Food” and their food certainly feeds your soul.

But Savannahblue is about much more than the food, it’s about the experience, the experience of enjoyment.

It all begins once you reach the host stand, where you are always greeted with a warm “Hello.’’ Upon entering the bar area your visual senses are ignited by the understated modern décor.

Savannahblue is a direct reflection of its ownership, Ron Scott, Roger Hopp and John D. Simpson who are all professional Men with a keen understanding of the Detroit entertainment scene. They have taken their combined experience and created a culinary gem, so much that this year the James Beard Foundation listed these Gentlemen as semifinalists for Outstanding Restaurateurs.

The atmosphere at Savannahblue has been engineered with love and care, whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, having a business dinner or just dinning with some friends the atmosphere is enjoyable.

The menu features southern classics like catfish fritters, braised oxtail, ribs, collard greens, and black-eyed peas all of which are delicious.

The bar has an impressive wine list, and the cocktails are imaginative and refreshing.

When we discussed our pick for Beautiful Machine Restaurant of the Year, the choice was easy; from the food, the service and the atmosphere Savannahblue checked all the boxes. But most importantly, Savannahblue is consistent, and that’s why they are our Restaurant of the Year.

Congratulations Gentlemen!
