Ose is a breath of fresh air

By Carita Miller

I haven't been this excited about an artist in a long time but Ose is different, her music is a breath of fresh air. it's well-produced and her vocals are amazing. The future is bright for Ose.

I recently got a chance to speak with her, this is a bit of our conversation.

You just performed at the Lights On Festival which is put together by H.E.R. What was that experience like and how did that come about for you?
Correction actually, haha. I was given the amazing opportunity by Jeff Robinson to attend my first music festival/concert. The experience was absolutely amazing. I got the opportunity to witness some of my biggest musical inspirations in their element, and it was magical. I’m speaking it into existence though that next year I’ll hopefully get the opportunity to perform on that Lights On stage!

You’re only 19 right? Your music is so mature what inspires your writing?
Actually, I’m 18 years old, just turned 18 in July. When it comes to my writing, there’s a lot of things that come into the mix, but to sum it up, it’s all storytelling. Not all the stories may be mine, but that’s what makes it so much fun and even more interesting for me—I get the opportunity to tell someone else’s story from my perspective and be that translator and voice for people who don’t have one. I take it upon myself to tell that story as best I can, which is where the development and maturity of my pen come into play. Constantly, getting better at telling and creating the narrative and bringing the listener into the world I create with my lyrics is always the goal.

Who is your favorite artist right now and why?
At this moment in time, I have many artists that are my favorite and that I look up to, but if I had to pick just one to talk about it’d be H.E.R. I love her because she’s so true to her art and doesn’t let the noise of the industry distract her. She’s so raw, her writing is out of this world, and she’s so poised. Seeing H.E.R. live at Lights On Fest really made me fall in love with her and her artistry even more.

What can we expect next from you?

From me, you can expect a lot of things coming up. Possibly a new single from me before the year runs out, I’m working on my project right now as well, so that’s really exciting for me.

What artist/producers would you like to work with?
For artists I want to work with in the future, definitely Brandy, she’s a huge inspiration for me, so to work with her would be a dream come true. Also, artists like H.E.R., GivÄ“on, Summer Walker, SZA, Jazmine Sullivan, the list goes on but I’m going to stop there haha.

As for producers, I’d absolutely love to work with D’Mile, Cardiak, Jeff Gitty, Rodney Jerkins, and Boi-1da.

Thank you for your time!
