NBC’S THE VOICE S16 CONTESTANT AND DETROIT NATIVE BETH RELEASES FIRST CHILDREN’S BOOK TO PREVENT BULLYING

Michigan native, national recording artist, record label owner and former NBC’s The Voice contestant Beth Griffith-Manley announces the release of her first in a series of children’s books titled “I Am Beautiful Inside and Out” with Tristan Chase Irvin. This release is in conjunction with National Bullying Prevention Month in October. Beth was bullied and teased as a child and wanted to release this book in conjunction with National Bullying Prevention Month.

Beth is the daughter of the late Motown Funk Brother, Johnny Griffith. Beth performs nationally as a solo artist (1 album and 6 singles released to date), a guest artist with multi-platinum and Grammy-Nominated Smooth Jazz and R&B saxophonist and flautist Najee, and a support vocalist for Grammy-Nominated Motown recording artist KEM. She is a former support vocalist for 8-time Grammy-Award winning vocalist Anita Baker and in 2019, Beth was a contestant on Season 16 of NBC’s The Voice with Kelly Clarkson and John Legend as her coaches.

“I Am Beautiful Inside and Out” teaches young children the important life lessons of acceptance, self-esteem, tolerance, kindness, and compassion. This book provides an early educational opportunity and is a tool for parents, teachers, mentors, and young children to have a discussion about the effects of bullying, how to identify it, and how to prevent it.

As millions of children are returning to the classroom this fall, they will experience the effects of bullying at the hands of their classmates and or peers. The National Center for Educational Statistics in 2019 reported that one out of every five students (20.2%) report being bullied.

Children Who Are Bullied
In 2019, The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported that students who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, lower academic achievement, and dropping out of school.

Children Who Bully Others
Bullies are more likely to get in fights with peers, vandalize property, and drop out of school. Statistics show that bullies are more likely to abuse alcohol and other drugs in adolescence and as adults, get into fights with peers, vandalize property, and drop out of school.
