Masego is working to create the mood for his self-titled album as the summer months are rapidly approaching. The project, which has 14 featureless tracks, was delivered this New Music Friday (March 3). One song, "What You Wanna Try," has already been clear fan favorite. The catchy song, which was produced by Dan Foster, Louie Lastic, and Masego himself, received approximately 100K listens on Spotify alone in its first weekend. He establishes the scenario in the first verse by saying, "I’m in Detroit with Khadijah / Fighting feelings, rollin’ weed, yeah." The song is primarily set in Detroit and mentions “Renaissance Drive” also quotes “its a Wang Dang thang Coney Island hangs Westside, 7-mile slang,” setting the tone for this to be at the top of all Detroiters summer playlist. Masego's unique style and talent are evident throughout the album, making it a must-listen for both diehard fans and newcomers alike. Masego's self-titled album is ultimately a testimony to his musical aptitude and ability to deftly combine a variety of musical inspirations and genres. With already impressive streaming numbers and an eagerly awaited tour, Masego's career is sure to take off. The 29-year-old will begin his tour in Las Vegas later this month before continuing on to venues in San Francisco, Vancouver, Detroit, Toronto, New York, and other cities.
