April Wagner always knew she wanted to be an artist. Even at a young age, April was different from other kids, always messing around trying to make something from nothing, never really fitting in anywhere until her high school years at Interlochen Arts Academy. Art school focused April’s creative energy and propelled her into a lifelong career in the arts.

Born in Muskegon Michigan, April grew up enjoying many summers on sandy white beaches. She was a natural artist, her interest in form, color and line was apparent from a very early age. Blessed with understanding parents, April was encouraged to focus her education on the arts; exploring music, dance and many types of visual arts. She initially focused on ceramics, then in college, developed a passion for blowing glass.

April has taken her talent for blowing glass and built one of the largest private hot glass blowing facilities in the Midwest. Epiphany Studios is a 4,000 square ft. world-class glassblowing gallery and studio in Pontiac, Michigan where April and her team create one-of-a-kind glass sculptures and gift items that are contemporary, colorful and handcrafted. She is often commissioned for large-scale sculptures across the U.S. and operates one of the largest re-heating chambers in the state of Michigan.

The 4,000 square-foot space will soon be expanded with a 2,600 square-foot addition, adding a 26-foot-tall ceiling to accommodate her work on large-scale projects.

“What I love about glass is its inherently transformative nature,” said Wagner. “It is a liquid, then it is solid, it is clear or it is colored, it is soft or hard, you see it by seeing through it. Capturing that “ah-ha” moment when the glass is transitioning from fluid to static, the graceful curve of the lines, the lightness and tension of how glass exists in space, all of these elements are front-of-mind when I am working.”

Visitors can browse Epiphany’s gallery of stunning, affordable hand-made glass gifts and sculptures and enjoy the rare opportunity to watch glassblowers form 2000-degree glass into beautiful art. Epiphany also offers a variety of different hands-on experiences throughout the year that gives individuals, couples or entire families the opportunity to work with studio artists and learn some basic glassblowing techniques.
