A Mothers Love

As we prepare to celebrate another Mother’s Day, many thoughts run through my mind, mainly about how much love my Mother has given me. Being a Mother now I see that it's not easy.

The sacrifices we have to make and all the challenges we face as Mothers makes me appreciate everything my Mother went through to protect, nourish, and constantly love and support me the way she does.

A Mother’s love is endless and irreplaceable. I remember some old saying that my Mom would say as I was growing up, things like, “I brought you in this world and I’ll take you out”. Her other favorite was, “Mama loves you”. Now I understand what she must’ve been feeling when she said those words.

I believe one of the most unique things in life is giving birth. The physical and spiritual experience of childbirth is truly a gift from God.

My Mom taught me what unconditional love feels like, she loves me no matter what the situation is. I am very proud of being a Mother, and I now understand unconditional love first hand.

The day I gave birth God gave me a one of a kind extension of myself. I am most thankful for my Son. My son is my greatest accomplishment, I also understand what it means when people say, “enjoy them while you can, because they grow up right before your eyes.”

I remember the days so clearly having to sneak out of the house to go to work, and as soon as the car started, there he was at the window screaming “Maaaaaaa”, and I would have to roll down the window and say “I’ll be back, I’m just going to work’’. Those were the days; that boy made me feel bad for going to work, and he did this for years but it was all better when I got home and gave my baby boy a kiss and told him, "Mommie loves you".

Nowadays, the pre-teen years have kicked in ,and he can’t wait to get away from me. I must admit, watching him grow has been a bit sad at times for me, but I’m a very proud mother of a Young King who knows how to pray.

My Son is compassionate and kind. I look at him and see the framework of a great Man. Although seeing him grow up so fast is sometimes saddening, being his Mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I dedicate this piece to my all these women, who have shown me what a mother's love feels like. I see what you were saying and thank you for showing me unconditional Love.
